An innovative retailer of independent fashion including womenswear, menswear, jewelry and accessories. The store and website carry a unique curation of more than 80 talented designers, the in-house SWORDS-SMITH collection and exclusive collaborations with other brands, artists and friends. The store is a creative space, often hosting parties, designer events, pop-up shops and art installations, located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
SWORDS-SMITH was founded in 2013 by married partners Briana Swords and R Smith. The ambitious couple united with a goal of building an original retail concept showcasing creativity in fashion and design. Swords previously worked as a womenswear designer in corporate fashion. Smith is an interactive designer and resident internet-Dad. The duo created SWORDS-SMITH as a place where their interests, aesthetics and values converge.
Housed in a former factory, the 2,000 square foot store is an airy space bathed in natural light. The original brick and steel details were left untouched and are juxtaposed against modern design, neon colors and diagonal lines. In addition to the store, the space houses our design studio. The intact original details are a nod to the former industrial artist haven that the neighborhood used to be.
In an era where developers want to capitalize on Brooklyn, we aimed to build something genuine. Having lived here for years, we believe it is important to maintain an independent voice in Williamsburg. We hope to share our point of view with like-minded people who value individuality and authentic style.
Our goal is to enable our clients to discover new brands and support exciting designers who emphasize creativity and quality. We go to great lengths to find original, beautiful apparel and objects from brands down the street and around the world. We carry only high-quality goods made by skilled workers and artisans. Our designers use an inspiration-driven design process and manufacture responsibly. We believe in the people we work with and the work that they do.
