Restaurant Ideas for When Misi Has No Tables
Following the success of her first restaurant Lilia, Chef Missy Robbins opened Misi a pasta-focused restaurant in Williamsburg which is continuously been booked up, over month out. Luckily there are many other great options a short walk away, here are ideas when you don't want to wait...
BARANO. Walk 3 blocks south for upscale Italian. Barano serves delicious pasta and wood fired dishes a beautifully refined space on Broadway and Kent Ave. Right next door their sister business, a sustainable wineshop Spirit Animal sells bottles from the wine list without the markup. MOTORINO. Have a low key nite with some of the best pizza in NYC. Motorino serves Napoli style pizza straight from their beautiful wood-fired oven. They cook in minutes and come out beautifully charred. Come back for the lunch special – a pizza and a salad for $15 is big enough for 2 is one of the best deals in New York.
DINER. Return to a neighborhood staple and a pioneer to bring responsible, market-driven food to Brooklyn. It's perfect for dinner with friends, a great place for a late night burger and one of our favorites for brunch. The menu is short, changes daily, is seasonal and delicious. It was the launching pad for a range of other tasteful places and several former employees went on to open some of our favorite other shops.
LA SUPERIOR. Switch gears completely and go for casual Mexican food La Superior. The small industrial space serves simple and delicious tacos (+ a hearty Mexican brunch). Stiff drinks and a fun lively vibe. Cash only with an ATM out front.
DANDY WINE & SPIRITS. Grab a bottle from Dandy Wine & Spirits and head home for a movie. The staff is very knowledgeable and they have free tastings every Wednesdays and Fridays.
